Why am I running for

County Commissioner now?

I seriously thought about running four years ago but felt I needed more governmental experience. I believe a county commissioner should have a strong background with municipal knowledge and experience rather than imposing an extended job training program on county taxpayers.

I believe I am well prepared to tackle the learning curve of county commissioner.

I will be a strong advocate for all of the cities and citizens of Cowlitz County and believe that county decisions should be based on merit and not politics.

From day one I can bring the same strong, sensible leadership to Cowlitz County as commissioner that I brought to Kalama as mayor for the last seven years. I believe that having a great staff is crucial for success in managing a large organization and will focus on employee retention; I will respect and value the expertise and professionalism of county staff. It was Kalama’s experienced collaborative leadership team that helped the city to become such a forward-thinking economic powerhouse in the area.

I will bring my experience of municipal governance and institutional knowledge to Cowlitz County as commissioner, especially important with two experienced commissioners leaving.
